Veronika Z. Gaudet is best known for her use of brilliant, bright and vibrant colours in her acrylic and mixed media paintings.

A major influence in her work is water. Perhaps not surprisingly. Born in Budapest, often referred to as the “City of Water,” Veronika found comfort in water from an early age. “Some of my earliest happy memories involve playing in water ..from splashing in fountains in Budapest on hot summer days in the city, to swimming in one of the many outdoor pools, playing on the shore of the Danube river or spending hours and hours in the warm waters of Lake Balaton.” As an adult, family trips to Hawaii through the years have also left a strong imprint on her work, as did being surrounded by beautiful lakes Okanagan and Kalamalka while living in British Columbia. Since moving to Orange County, California, beachwalks have become a joyous pastime and place for reflection and great inspiration.

"I love being around water! It truly brings me joy. I am fascinated by the way water plays and interacts with light, its movement and flow, the way the colours are affected by not only the angle of the sun, but also of the observer. While I can't recreate the full experience of being at a beach, with its sounds, scents or the way our skin feels in the sun or breeze, I try to at least bring back those feelings and memories through my art."

Veronika is a self taught painter and photographer. While art and photography have always been part of her life, she also has a background in writing and marketing with a degree in Communications from SFU. Her experiences were shaped by a childhood spent in historically rich and splendid Budapest, and later in the majestic Italian Dolomites in Trentino. She also lived in beautiful Vancouver, BC for 20 years, as well as in picturesque Kelowna, BC for seven years.

She moved to Southern California in 2020 with her husband, two sons and her - always entertaining-  Jack Russell Terrier dog. Veronika Z. Gaudet currently calls sunshine filled Corona Del Mar, CA, home.

“I want the art I make to be a positive force in the world. Every brushstroke, every drop of paint comes from a positive place within me. What is most important to me, is that my art bring peacefulness, joy and good emotions in general to anyone looking at it.”
